Final decision on oil prices in `1 or 2 days'

New Delhi , Nov. 3

THE Government will take a "final decision" on revising oil prices in the next one or two days, the Finance Minister, Mr P. Chidambaram, said after a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) here on Wednesday.

The Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Mr Mani Shankar Aiyar, gave a detailed presentation to the CCEA on the situation arising out of the galloping crude oil prices.

"Another meeting of the CCEA will be held in the next 24 to 48 hours to take a final decision," Mr Chidambaram said.

Retail prices of petrol and diesel have not been raised since August despite soaring crude oil prices because of opposition from alliance partners within the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance Government.
