BEML net at Rs 24.6 cr in H1

BANGALORE: Bharat Earth Movers Ltd has posted a 15-year high in profit before tax for the first half of the fiscal ended September 2004, at Rs 44.26 crore, as against Rs 4.61 crore previously. The net profit for the first six months of the fiscal grew to Rs 24.6 crore, compared with Rs 2.77 crore during 2003-04.

For the first quarter ended June 2004, the defence PSU posted a profit before tax of Rs 9.31 crore,recovering from a loss of Rs 16.98 crore in the previous corresponding quarter.

It made profit after tax of Rs 5.19 crore.

BEML said a recent Construction World-Nicmar 2004 study had named the company as the second-fastest growing construction equipment company in India.
