Chennai , Nov. 6

AMWAY India Enterprises has launched Nutrilite Natural B dietary supplement with seven B vitamins (B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, folic acid and B12), Inosotol and para-amino-benzoic-acid (PABA) derived from naturally converted yeast. With this launch, the number of products in the company's nutrition and wellness category has gone up to 12.

Mr Stephen Beddoe, Director-Marketing & Distributor Relations, Amway India, said that about 80 per cent of the company's products are manufactured in India through third party contract manufacturers. He said that to bring the identified contract manufacturers' production facilities and skills to international standards, the company has invested about Rs 17 crore.

Some of the nutrition and wellness products are manufactured at the Hyderabad-based Sarvotham Care Ltd and Sai Mirra Innopharm Pvt Ltd in Chennai. The other manufacturers identified by Amway are Naisa Industries, Daman; Yodeva Plastics, Hyderabad; and Golcha Talum and Cosmetics, Mumbai.

At present, Amway India offers 55 products in four categories - personal care, home care, nutrition and wellness and cosmetics.

During 2003-04 (September 2003 to August 2004) the company recorded a turnover of Rs 636 crore, a 10 per cent increase over the previous year's turnover of Rs 579 crore. He said that 50 per cent of the turnover comes from the nutrition and wellness category.

NEW DELHI: The Managing Director and CEO, Mr. William S. Pinckney, said in a statement: "Last year has been the best year so far for Amway India. What makes it even more satisfying is that the growth has come despite the difficult market conditions. The growth is a combined result of an increased acceptance of Amway's independent business opportunity and its world-class products by the market forces."

Mr Pinckney said the company offers low cost, low risk and high potential independent business opportunity to individuals. It also markets world-class products exclusively through Amway business owners and on both these counts, Amway India recorded growth during the period under review.

Amway India is a wholly owned subsidiary of $ 6.2 billion Alticor Inc of the US. The company has invested more than Rs 151 crore in India till date.
