Buyback Privatising airways
This is with reference to the editorial "Refurbishing the airports"(Business Line, November 8). With the adoption of "Open skies policy" by India with SAARC and Asean countries, privatisation of airways has become imperative. Though the sale of equities to foreign airlines is disfavoured in the interest of saving domestic airlines and safeguarding national security, it is essential to workout a long-term plan to privatise the airlines in a phased manner. Allowing various private operators in the aviation sector will also certainly promote the tourism industry of the nation. C.
