Fuel price hike

The Union Government's decision to hike fuel prices (Business Line, November 5) is in no way justifiable even in the light of the fact that rates have gone up in the international market.

While the legal tender value of the rupee is the same throughout India, the variation of the prices in various metropolitan cities warrants equal tax patterns.

It is high time the Petroleum Ministry reconsidered allowing vehicles to run on LPG as the decision to do so will affect the commoner whose dependence on LPG is sky-rocketing.
