The Hindu Business Line : Karnataka to release funds for runway

MANGALORE: The Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) has said that the Chief Minister, Mr N. Dharam Singh, has promised to release funds for the completion of work on second runway at Mangalore Airport. The Government has to release funds for the acquisition of a portion of land for the runway construction.

A press release said here on Tuesday that a KCCI delegation, led by its President, Mr A. Srinivasa Rao, had met the Chief Minister in Bangalore recently.

Mr Singh has also promised to release funds for the completion of gauge conversion work on the Mangalore-Hassan railway route. He promised to hold another round of discussion with the delegation to have a detailed discussion on various issues. The officials of the departments concerned would be invited to that meeting, the release added.
