SSI to provide training in 696 Delhi schools

SSI Education, a training division of Aptech Ltd, has bagged an order worth Rs 88.73 crore from the Directorate of Delhi Schools, NCR Delhi, to provide IT training in 696 schools in the National Capital Region (NCR). This project covers a four-year term and would train one million students.

Under the terms of the agreement, the IT curriculum will be as per the syllabus stipulated by the Directorate of Education. Aptech will provide over 1,800 experienced and trained faculty, 700 IT assistants thereby taking the total headcount deployment to over 2,500 and adherence to pre-determined schedules apart from providing specified class-room infrastructure.

About 556 laboratories will be set up by Aptech Ltd and some of them would be common for the girls and the boys schools.

The Senior Vice-President and Head, Institutional Sales of Aptech, Mr G. Sivakumar, in a statement said, "We have nurtured an early vision of making a difference in Government schools' education and our track record of achievements in various States such as Tamil Nadu, Andhra and Karnataka bears testimony to our long-term commitment. This contract further augments our confidence in our delivery and implementation capabilities."

Aptech has been the preferred partner for training in several schools throughout the country. It is currently involved in schools in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Orissa in approximately 1,000 schools.

Aptech is involved in Project Shikhar, an IT empowerment project of the Uttaranchal Government, that aims to provide IT training to over one lakh students in 55 colleges.
