Rubber improves on short covering

THE absence of quantum sellers helped the prices to improve on Wednesday. The short covering from traders and purchase agents amid low arrivals added gains to the major grades

According to growers, overnight rains continued to be heavy all over disturbing the production and tapping of the raw material to a great extent. RSS 4 closed at Rs 53.50 against Rs 53.25 a kg on Tuesday.

The NMCE futures turned bearish with November delivery quoting at Rs 54.45 (Rs 54.94), December at Rs 54.77 (Rs 55.27), January at Rs 55.90 (Rs 56.26) and February delivery at Rs 56.88 (Rs 57.19) per kg for RSS 4.

Spot market rates per kg were: RSS 4 Rs 53.50 (53.25); RSS 5 Rs 52.25 (52); ungraded Rs 50 (Rs 49.50); ISNR 20 Rs 52.75 (52.75); and latex 60% Rs 39.50 (39.50)
