Rubber prices decline on sales

Our Correspondent

Kottayam , Nov. 12

RUBBER prices declined on Friday as selling from traders holding excess stock put pressure on prices.

Buyers kept an extremely low profile on negative reports from the world markets. The absence of major manufactures depressed the sentiments further amidst low arrivals.

Weather conditions were unfavourable for tapping as in the previous days. All the grades except latex lost charm in a seller's market and sheet rubber RSS 4 closed at Rs 53.00 against Rs 53.50 on Wednesday. The market appeared to be in a holiday mood.

There was no normal trading at NMCE on account of Diwali. At Bangkok RSS 3 closed at Rs 56.83 a kg against Rs 57.50 a kg.

The spot market rates per kg on Friday follow: RSS 4 53.00 (53.50);

RSS 5 51.50 (52.25); ungraded 49.00 (50.00); ISNR 20 52.00 (52.75); andlatex 60 per cent 39.50 (39.50)
