Bangalore , Nov. 12

MOBILE handset maker E-Charge will invest Rs 60 crore in India in the next 12 months to market its high-end Microsoft Windows-enabled products.

The Chief Executive Officer of E-Charge India, Mr Kamal Narula, told Business Line that the company expects to sell between 80,000 handsets to one lakh handsets in its full year of operations. He said the company might consider setting up an assembly unit once the handsets' volume go up substantially. E-Charge is part of the Australian-based Mercantile Pacific Group, which is a distributor of pre-paid mobile cards, start-up kits and international calling cards.

Mr Narula said E-Charge would launch a major advertising and marketing campaign to market its flagship brand, iQ700 worth Rs 26,999.

Mr Narula said his company was in talks with several mobile service providers to bundle the handsets along with tariff schemes.

"This will spurt an array of investments from the company in India," Mr Narula said.
