TN Chamber flays petro price hike

Our Correspondent

MADURAI: The Tamil Nadu Chamber of Commerce and Industry has strongly condemned the recent like in prices of petrol, diesel and LPG.

In a statement, the chamber President, Mr S. Rethinavelu, has said that the hike would seriously impact trade, industry and the general public.

"The prices of industrial raw material would escalate further. Transportation will become costly. The peaking inflationary rate will reach new heights."

The industrial sector is slowly getting out of stagnation and the steep hike would be detrimental to its interest, he added.

The increase in the LPG price and the purported additional increase every month would affect million of households severely. The Government should have borne the additional burden. It must reconsider and reverse the hike, he added.
