Our Bureau

NEW DELHI: AHLCON - ready-mix concrete, a unit of Rs 300-crore Ahluwalia Contracts (India) Ltd, has bagged a Rs 6.5-crore order from IRCON, a public sector unit under the Ministry of Railways.

As part of the contract, AHLCON has to supply 20,000 cubic metre of ready-mix concrete (RMC) in 10 months to IRCON for its Line 3 project of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) from Barakhamba to Dwarka, a company release said here.

AHLCON-RMC is setting up dedicated plant to meet the requirement of this order, it added.

Ahluwalia Contracts has its flagship RMC plant with an investment of Rs 7 crore in Ghaziabad, which is equipped to manufacture all grades of standard concrete such as M15, M20, M35 & M40 and further plans to set up four plants in Gurgaon, Noida, Kolkata and Ahmedabad in the near future.

"Due to constraints of land availability, heavy equipment cost and installation, RMC is fast becoming the perfect alternative in urban India today. Not only is it being adopted as a suitable alternative but also a reliable method in construction," Mr Vikas Ahluwalia, Director of Ahluwalia Contracts, said in a statement.
