Rs 2.45 cr for road repairs in Kochi

KOCHI: The State Government has allotted Rs 2.45 crore for repairing and tarring of roads as part of beautifying the city ahead of the World Mayors' Conference to be held early next year.

The Kochi Corporation had earlier approached the State Government with a request for financial aid for repairing the roads. The State Government would spend Rs 1.75 crore for repairing and tarring all the main city roads and laying flooring tiles on footpaths. The M. G. Road, Shanmugham Road and Banerji Road would be repaired using the fund.

The sub roads connecting Elamakara and Perandoor, Edakochi and Thoppumpady, Thoppumpady and Fort Kochi, Park Avenue and Santo Gopalan roads will also be repaired.

The authorities have started laying of tiles at M. G. road and Hospital road. The repair works would be completed before January 15. The Kochi Corporation expects delegates from different parts of the world to attend the conference.
