Politics Parliamentarians meet from tomorrow in Hyderabad Our Bureau

Hyderabad , Nov. 16 OVER 120 delegates from five countries are expected to take part in the four-day India and Asia Regions Commonwealth Parliamentary Association conference to be held here from Thursday. The Speaker of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly, Mr K.R. Suresh Reddy, told newspersons here on Tuesday that the Lok Sabha Speaker, Mr Somnath Chatterjee, would inaugurate the conference in which delegates from Sri Lanka, Maldives, Pakistan and Bangladesh apart from India would take part. The participation of Pakistan in such a conference would be the first after country's re-admission into the association at its meeting held in Canada in September, this year. During the conference, he said, there would be panel discussions on "Strengthening Democracy and Securing Development", on " Eradicating Hunger and Poverty - Role of Parliamentarians", "The role of Parliaments in Enhancing Good Governance" and on "Towards Sustainable Development in the Asian Region". Three delegates from each State in the country would take part in the event. Deputy Speaker of the Lok Sabha, Mr Charanjit Singh Atwal, would address the valedictory session.
