Hyderabad , Nov. 16

THE State Cabinet at a meeting here on Tuesday decided to launch `Indira Prabha,' a comprehensive land development project, on November 19, the birthday of the late Prime Minister, Ms Indira Gndhi.

According to the State Information Minister, Mr Mohammed Ali Shabbir, the Rs 500-crore project envisages to develop 3.94 lakh acres of agricultural land belonging to 2.72 lakh people belonging to the weaker sections in the State. The project is funded by the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development in two phases under the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund.

Briefing newspersons, Mr Shabbir said that the Cabinet also decided to launch `Rajiv Yuva Shakti' project on Friday. The Rs 321-crore project is aimed at providing job opportunities to one lakh unemployed youth in the State.

The other decisions of the Cabinet included allotment of one acre of land in the posh Banjara Hills area to the Telangana Rashtra Samithi for building its office. The Government had allotted the land at Rs 100 per square yard though its market value was several times higher.

It had also been decided to appoint a Special Collector and seven land acquisition officers for expediting the land acquisition process for the construction of Rs 1,410-crore outer ring road project of the Hyderabad Urban Development Authority.

Mr Shabbir said that the Cabinet had decided to ask the managements of private hospitals to file monthly reports pertaining to their treatment of poor people. This measure was contemplated as the Government had extended various concessions to these hospitals and they have the responsibility to treat some poor people.

The Cabinet deferred its decision on the proposal to amend the A.P. Exhibition of Films, Television, and Screen through Video Cassette Recordings Act, 1993. The amendment was proposed to curb video-piracy.
