New Products & Services Logistics - Roadways Idea launches device to prevent vehicle thefts Our Bureau
Thiruvananthapuram , Nov. 17 IDEA Cellular Ltd has introduced a new product in the Kerala market that is designed to prevent vehicle theft. The solution, called `I-guard', has been launched in association with Micro Technologies Ltd. It will provide the customers with complete control over their vehicles wherever they are. The device will send an alarm call over SMS to the mobile phone of the car owner the moment the door of the vehicle is opened by an unauthorised person. The owner can immediately immobilise the engine at the press of a button. Mr B. Ramakrishna, head of the Kerala circle of Idea Cellular, told newspersons on Wednesday that the reach of the system extends to any place within the mobile phone range. The device, called `Micro Vehicle Black Box', is now designed for high-segment cars, with installation cost upwards of Rs 16,000. A less expensive device to suit low segment cars is also being developed, according to Mr Rajesh Kapoor of Micro Technologies. All Idea post-paid customers can subscribe to a Rs 99 plan and get the I-guard solution.
