Mumbai , Nov. 17

TATA Consultancy Services has entered into a "strategic global services partnership " with Microsoft Corporation to reinforce TCS' position in the software and systems integration business.

"The partnership is for several key initiatives with Microsoft, reflecting the strategic nature of the relationship and increased commitment to the same," said a news release from TCS, which did not specify the exact nature of the strategic pact.

The announcement was made at the sidelines of a meeting in Mumbai between Mr Steve Ballmer, Chief Executive Officer, Microsoft, and Mr S. Ramadorai, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of TCS, said the release.

Using its software delivery methodology, TCS has built numerous tools, assets and proprietary intellectual property around the Microsoft platform, it said. TCS is currently engaged in numerous joint initiatives with Microsoft, covering industry domains as well as broad technology areas that address customer needs across all aspects of IT process, application, infrastructure and security.

Recently the two companies successfully bid jointly for large-scale and complex enterprise IT initiatives of global customers, said the release.

"TCS' technology practices that spearhead its Microsoft solution offerings have witnessed tremendous business growth and have extremely aggressive plans for the future towards increased recruitment, competency enhancement and creation of repeatable solutions."
