Chennai , Nov. 21

NSK Ltd of Japan, a global bearings major, proposes to expand its operations in India. As a step in this direction, it has begun to appoint dealers in various parts of the country.

Recently, it announced the appointment of Durga Bearings Pvt Ltd as one of the dealers. Chennai-based Durga Bearings, a Rs 40-crore company, has been in the trade for over two decades. Mr Deepak Sultania, Director-Marketing, Durga Bearings, said that the dealership would sell only those types of bearings that are currently not manufactured in India.

NSK's bearings are imported into the country. In the current year, Durga Bearings expects to achieve a turnover of Rs 55 crore. At a recent press conference, Mr Joseph John, General Manager, NSK Ltd, said that the Indian market being so big, it was only a matter of time before NSK set up a manufacturing facility here.

Durga Bearings kicked off its Silver Jubilee celebrations with a commemorative function on Saturday.

Mr Shoichiro Ejima, Chairman, NSK International (Singapore) Pvt Ltd, said he was "very impressed" with Durga Bearings' professional approach to business.
