Tourism BPCL outlets in Kerala to house tourist aid centres Our Bureau
Thiruvananthapuram , Nov. 22 BHARAT Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) has teamed up with Kerala Tourism to set up tourist information centres at some of the company's retail outlets in the State. Called the `Bharat Petroleum Tourist Information Centre,' these information kiosks will be established at select BPCL retail outlets located along the State's highways and also at the company's petrol bunks at key locations in the major towns, said Mr S. Varadarajan, General Manager-Retail (South), BPCL. The company plans to have a "significant" number of these kiosks in place - especially along the highways - by December this year, said Mr S. Radhakrishnan, Director-Marketing, BPCL.
Inaugurating the first `Bharat Petroleum Tourist Information Centre' in Thiruvananthapuram on Monday, Mr K.C. Venugopal, Minister for Tourism and Devaswoms, pointed out that an important issue confronting Kerala's tourism sector is the absence of proper wayside amenities along the highways.
Kerala Tourism is also planning to launch a project to create wayside amenities, the Minister said. Likely to be called `Vazhioram,' this project will involve private sector participation, he added. BPCL is also expanding its `In & Out' convenience store network in the State. The company's third such store in Thiruvananthapuram was also inaugurated on Monday.
