Wage settlement for plantations workers soon

THE new wage settlement for the staff working in the plantations in Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka is expected to come through within the next three months.

According to a release issued by the Estates Staffs' Union of South India (ESUSI), at the bipartite meeting held at Bangalore on Saturday, the United Planters Association of Southern India (UPASI), had appealed to the Union seeking three months time for arriving at the new settlement.

The ESUSI General Secretary, Mr E.V. Daniel, said `special committees' were being formed for each of these states for initiating further discussion on the wage issue.
