Hyderabad , Nov. 22 THE Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), Hyderabad, under the Union Ministry of Communications & IT, and International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Hyderabad, in association with the Department of Information Technology (DIT), is conducting a National Workshop on Supply Chain Management (SCM) with focus on how Supply Chain Management solutions improve enterprise profitability on Saturday. The meeting intends to provide a platform for the industry, academia and the researchers to come together and share their experiences. The forum intends to discuss the universal acclaim of SCM and its role in profitability enhancement. It would also deliberate on the importance of open source solutions and their impact on the Small & Medium Enterprises (SME) sector. The international community is moving towards standardised models like Supply Chain Operations Reference (SCOR), proposed by the Supply Chain Council (SCC) as the standard reference for implementing & communicating standard supply-chain management practices across companies. The forum would discuss the Indian perspective of the whole issue, especially from the SME sector. C-DAC Hyderabad and IIIT Hyderabad are in pursuit of developing an open source software tool for optimising Supply Chain Operations. The project, funded by Department of Information Technology, Government of India, is an effort towards providing an affordable solution in Open Source domain to the SMEs. The open software, with its low Total Cost of Ownership, promises shrinking Supply Chain Management costs to make the SME sector globally competitive.
