The right choice

Ms Condoleezza Rice's appointment as the next Secretary of State of the US seems the right choice.

It is even more relevant in the light of the increase in the share of Black votes for Mr Bush (from 9 per cent to 11 per cent.

In a ceremony at the White House, Mr Bush is reported to have said that during the last four years he has relied on Ms Rice's counsel and benefited from her wide-ranging experience.

The word `Condoleezza' is derived from an Italian musical term that means "with sweetness".

One hopes Ms Rice will show the sole superpower in better light and work towards strengthening the relations between India and the US.
