Rlys freight revenue up 9.36 pc during Apr-Oct

THE Indian Railways earned Rs 16,865.39 crore by carrying 336.20 million tonnes of revenue earning freight traffic during the first seven months of the current fiscal ending October, notching an increase of 9.36 per cent compared to the corresponding period last year.

During April-October 2003, the Railways had earned Rs 15,421.44 crore from 311.29 million tonnes of freight, a Railway Ministry statement said here on Tuesday.
