Pact on Pathur tea estates

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Conciliatory talks held between plantation management and trade union leaders in the presence of the Industries Minister and the Labour Commissioner have reached an agreement on opening the Pathur Tea Estates in Wayanad district.

An official spokesman said here that the divisions of Poothakalli, Perumthatta I and II would be reopened on December 6 and the Elsson Division on January 10, 2005.

As per terms of the new agreement, workers have agreed to achieve maximum improvement in productivity. A sum of Rs 500 will be advanced as a measure of goodwill to each worker with immediate effect.
