Mumbai , Nov. 25

CEAT Ltd today launched its all-steel truck radials for the domestic market. The tyres, manufactured by Pirelli, have been designed for Indian conditions.

Ceat hopes that eventually 10-15 per cent of its truck tyre business would come from steel radials. The use of steel radials in the truck tyre segment is currently two per cent in India while it is 80 per cent in the Gulf, 35 per cent in Pakistan, 40-60 per cent in countries such as Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand and 90 per cent in Europe, US and South America.

The share of steel radials in Indian truck tyre sales is projected to touch 10 per cent by 2007, Mr Kalyan K. Paul, Vice-President (Sales & Marketing), Ceat, said.
