THE cost of wax needs to be brought down to save the match industry, the Sattur Chamber of Commerce and Industry has emphasised.

In a statement, its general secretary, Mr P. T. K. Balasubramanian, said that the increase in the price of match wax has affected the match industry seriously.

Noting that match wax is an important raw material for the industry, he said the prices of type II and type III wax have been raised by Rs 10 a kg to Rs 42.75 and Rs 36.30 respectively since April.
