NGRI seminar from tomorrow

HYDERABAD: The National Geophysical Research Institute (NGRI), here is organising `Hazards 2004', the 10th international symposium on natural and human induced hazards from December 2 to 4.

Simultaneously the Third Workshop of the International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics (IUGG) Commission on Geophysical Risk and Sustainability also would be held.

More than 120 delegates from 22 countries, including India would take part, according to an NGRI press release.

Major topics for discussion include landslides, earthquakes, hurricanes, cyclones, droughts, tsunamis, typhoons, storm surges, floods and sea level rise.

Dr Harsh Gupta, Secretary, Union Department of Ocean Development will inaugurate the symposium, while Prof G.A. Papadopoulos, President, Natural Hazard Society and Dr Tom Beer, Chairman, GeoRisk Commission of the IUGG will also participate.
