Wipro announces foray into modular furniture market

Bangalore , Nov. 30

WITH the modular furniture market set to grow by 30 per cent on its current value of Rs 500 crore, Wipro Consumer Care and Lighting, the FMCG division of Wipro Ltd, today announced the formal launch of its products.

Addressing a Press conference here on Tuesday, Mr Vineet Agrawal, President of Wipro Consumer Care & Lighting, said riding on the success of its commercial lighting business, Wipro has made a foray into the furniture market. He said though the company entered the modular furniture market late, the emerging demand from the ITES sector has encouraged Wipro to tap the potential.

He said though the company would be sourcing the products from its captive vendors, Wipro would provide its own design and tooling to provide customised products to its customers in the ITES sector. Initially, Wipro Consumer Care provided solutions to its own companies in IT which focuses more functional and ergonomic furniture's to enhance the ambience and work environment to provide less stressful workplace.

"We believe we can made a difference for the customer in this business. We have succeeded in lighting in a short time, largely because we have striven to understand the customer need and deliver products and services to satisfy them," said Mr Agrawal.

The company has invested in space planning and product design team to meet the stringent requirements of the customers in the ITES sector.
