NEW DELHI: Mr Prem Kumar, a 1968 Maharashtra cadre IAS officer, has been appointed the new Textiles Secretary, replacing Mr Wajahat Habibullah (IAS 1968, J&K Cadre), who has been shifted to the Panchayati Raj Ministry as Secretary.

Mr Prem Kumar was till now the Chairman, Food Corporation of India, according to a statement issued here on Tuesday.

Mr P.K. Hota, IAS (Orissa '69), at present Secretary, Department of Family Welfare, will also be Secretary, Department of Health, in place of Mr J.V.R. Prasada Rao, on his retirement on Tuesday.

Mr V.K. Malhotra, IAS (Uttar Pradesh '70), at present Managing Director, Food Corporation of India, has been made Chairman, in the rank and pay of Secretary. Mr Suresh Chandra, IAS (Maharashtra '70), at present Additional Secretary and Development Commissioner, Small Scale Industries, has been posted as Special Secretary, Ministry of Environment and Forests.
