AP invites pvt participation for infrastructure

Hyderabad , Dec. 1

THE State Government has called for private participation in improving infrastructure in the State.

Delivering the inaugural address at a three-day international conference organised by the Association of Consulting Civil Engineers (India), Mr Binay Kumar, Secretary (Transport and Roads and Buildings Department, Govt of AP), cited three major infrastructure projects being taken up in the State with active private participation.

The upcoming International Airport in Hyderabad and the two ports at Gangavaram and Krishnapatnam were being developed by private organisations, he said.

Delivering the keynote address, Prof. P. Dayaratnam, former Vice-Chancellor of Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, said India would have the world's tallest building at Indore. He threw light on the technological and design aspects of several skyscrapers around the world.

Speakers at the conference said the Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad should emulate Singapore's concept of buildability score.

In Singapore, a buildability score of 75 out of 100 is compulsory for according permission. Adopting such a concept will benefit the public as it bars builders from parking building materials on the roads. It will also ensure safety to construction workers, they said.
