HYDERABAD: Marking the World AIDS Day, the Andhra Pradesh chapter of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has organised a rally here on Wednesday to create awareness on the disease.

The rally, which started at Narsapur Cross Roads to IDPL Colony, was flagged off by Mr M. Mahender Reddy, Commissioner of Cyberabad City Police.

Addressing the participants, Mr M.K. Patodia, Vice-Chairman CII (Andhra Pradesh), said that more people were getting afflicted with the disease globally. While continuing efforts to arrest the spread of the disease, people should be sensitive and responsive to the medical and emotional needs of the affected.

Ms Shobhana Kamineni, Chairperson, CII (Southern Region), said the disease had a cascading effect on economic productivity. She asked participants to become brand ambassadors to spread the word on the need to eradicate the problem.
