Kerala CM's offer on Budget session
Our Bureau
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Chief Minister, Mr Oommen Chandy, has offered to convene the Budget session of the State Assembly earlier than scheduled, provided the Opposition extended cooperation.
Speaking to newspersons here at the end of a Cabinet meeting on Monday, the Chief Minister said the Assembly, which had met on the first day of the 10th session, had to be adjourned sine die due to lack of cooperation from the Opposition. In an unprecedented development, Opposition members in the Business Advisory Committee had flatly refused to attend a Committee meeting on the basis of what the Chief Minister described were flimsy grounds.
The Government will proceed as ordained by the law in the sexual misdemeanour case involving the Industries Minister, Mr P. K. Kunhalikkutty. Heated exchanges on this issue led the Opposition to invade the well of the House when the House convened for the winter session on Monday. It adjourned sine die soon after.
