Online directory to aid disabled kids

Our Bureau

Hyderabad , Dec. 2

SATYAM Alambana Foundation, the corporate social responsibility arm of Satyam Computer, along with V-Excel Educational Trust, an NGO working for the rehabilitation of disabled children in Chennai, on Thursday announced plans to build an online directory that will provide easy access to information and services to support the rehabilitation of children with special needs.

As per this arrangement, Satyam Alambana Foundation and V-Excel will work together to collect data related to rehabilitation centres, medical institutes, freelance profe- ssionals, volunteers and any other relevant details that would help the disabled as well as their parents get quick and easy access to what could be a life-saving information.

This is part of the effort on the International Day of the Disabled Persons that falls on December 3.

This initiative will enable the foundation to create data that can be accessed by anyone through a Web-based portal, thus making the critical information available 24x7.

The Director of Satyam Alambana Foundation, Dr Balaji Utla, in a statement said the initiative will help these special children worry less about their disabilities and focus more on what they can do to achieve their aspirations and goals.
