New Delhi , Dec. 4

BUSINESS intelligence major International Data Corporation (IDC) has named NIIT as the largest Asia-based IT training provider.

"NIIT (is) the only IT trainer from the region to make it to the `Worldwide IT Training Providers listing for 2003' instituted by IDC, US," an NIIT release said here.

Other global IT training leaders in the list include Cisco, Dell, IBM, Microsoft, Oracle SAP and Sun.

The IDC study reviews the revenue performance of the world's largest IT training companies as well as their approaches to growing their respective client bases.

NIIT's inclusion is based on its growth in the calendar year 2003, deriving global system-wide revenues of $111 million (Rs 489.2 crore) from IT training.

Terming NIIT as the largest Asia-based IT training provider, the IDC report says, "NIIT is well positioned to grow globally as it accommodates growing demand for IT training as well as customer demand for custom development of blended learning programmes."

According to the study, the market leaders derived nearly $4 billion in training related revenue in the year 2003, constituting nearly one-fifth of the global market of $20 billion.

The report expects the Asia Pacific region to experience the greatest growth at 9 per cent between 2004 and 2008.
