HP tops consumer products group in IDC rankings

HEWLETT-Packard has said that it has emerged as a winner in various consumer product categories such as consumer desktops and notebooks, according to the latest third quarter results by research firm International Data Centre (IDC).

"Leading the race were HP laser printers, all-in-one, consumer desktops and notebooks. In the laser printer category, HP reported a 75 per cent market share. While the industry grew by 9 per cent, HP's market share increased by 12 per cent," a company release said here.

In the consumer notebook category, the company retained the top position and recorded a 29 per cent growth as against 25 per cent, the release said adding the market share for notebooks closed at 36 per cent.

HP maintained its consumer desktop share at 33 per cent. The company's inkjet all-in-ones grew by one per cent to capture 88 per cent market share while scanners retained 52 per cent.

Commenting on the performance, Mr Ravi Aggarwal, Vice-President, Imaging and Printing Group, HP, said, "Our endeavour is to provide choice to our customers and further fuel growth in the Indian market together with our partners."
