RIM launches rly booking in Kerala

KOCHI: Reliance Infocomm, in association with Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Ltd (IRCTC), has launched railway ticket booking service through Reliance India Mobile (RIM) in 11 cities in the State.

The centres are Alappuzha, Aluva, Kannur, Kochi, Kollam, Kottayam, Kozhikode, Palakkad, Thiruvalla, Thiruvananthapuram and Thrissur. RIM users from 120 cities across all 28 states and union territories can avail themselves of the facility. The facility will be available on black and white handsets.

Mr Amitabh Pandey, Group Manager (IT Services), IRCTC said that the Corporation has developed a system whereby mobile service operators could access IRTC's rail reservation systems.

Mr Mahesh Prasad, President, Applications and Solutions Group, Reliance Infocomm, said the new facility on R World provides access to millions of new users who have not had the opportunity to use Internet booking of IRCTC and allows them to make reservation through RIM. R World offers the convenience of PC-like interactivity and easy navigation on mobile handsets, where all train routes and their corresponding train numbers can be accessed.
