Lister Metropolis plans labs in Coimbatore, Tirunelveli

Chennai , Dec. 5

LISTER Metropolis Clinical Labs is to shortly expand to Coimbatore and Tirunelveli.

Lister Metropolis' Managing Director, Dr P. Srinivasan, said he is considering two options to expand: take over existing labs or start new ones. A decision would be taken soon, and branches established before the end of the current financial year, he added.

Lister Metropolis currently has six centres in Chennai. The lab has used communications technology to use five centres as some kind of outreach facilities, and carry out most of the tests in main centre.

Dr Srinivasan said the result was that while samples were physically transferred from outreach centres to the main one, the results could be sent back through the communications network.

Recently, Lister Metropolis tied up with the eye hospital, Sankara Nethralaya, to add eye checks to the general health check up services it offers corporates. Sankara Nethralaya has set up a clinic in Lister's main centre to carry out eye tests. All Lister Metropolis clients can access the eye tests.

Among the plans are a tie up with a reputed dental clinic and services in preventive healthcare areas. Dr Srinivasan said the lab preferred to tie up with a reputed institution to offer services in areas that fell outside its core strength.
