India, Russia, Iran to discuss transport corridor

Our Bureau

Bangalore , Dec. 5

INDIA, Russia and Iran are planning to hold a joint meeting in January to discuss the possibility of setting up an international transport corridor.

India's ambassador to Russia, Mr Kanwal Sibal, after seeing off the Russian President, Mr Vladimir Putin, at the airport here on Sunday, told newspersons that if the project is implemented, it would reduce the travelling time and cost.

He said Mr Putin's visit to Bangalore had sent a strong signal of Moscow's willingness to improve bilateral relations in the IT sector. "Russians are good at R&D and fast algorithms in high-end IT and we are good at services and project management. It is a mutual strength we can build and cooperate in future," Mr Sibal said.

Mr Putin has left for Turkey, on a two-day official visit.
