THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Internet will double up as a medium for filing commercial tax returns as well as tracking down the movement of freight online helping to avoid much of the confusion prevailing at the check posts, according to Dr Thomas Joseph Thoomkuzhy of the Centre for Taxation Studies (CTS).

Dr Thoomkuzhy said this while addressing a familiarising session on Electronic Identity Cards for traders registered under the Kerala Government Sales Tax Act (KGST) and the Central Sales Tax Act (CST) organised here by the Chamber of Commerce. The dealer ID cards will help remove much of the tax-related problems faced by traders.

The Chamber President, Mr S. Pottivelu, Secretary, Mr P. Ganesh, and the Deputy Commissioner, Commercial Taxes, Thiruvananthapuram, Mr M.K. Subhakaran, also addressed the session.
