IN the backdrop of rapid changes in technology and intensifying global competition forcing employers to search for new business strategies, the Employers' Federation of Southern India (EFSI) is holding a daylong conference on `New Employment Practices - Business & People Issues' here on Friday.
In a press release here, EFSI said human resource professionals were increasingly being called upon to align people strategies with emerging business strategies. The emerging paradigms in the world of work and employment have also resulted in a situation where atypical was becoming typical and vice versa.
According to EFSI, both the economic policies and business environment have changed significantly in the last 15 years, while the social and labour policies remained the mostly unchanged. Though debated at length by various political parties and Governments, no significant changes took place in the area.
EFSI is of the view that the regulatory environment to meet the new competition was not in place and the archaic regulations continue to cause immense problems both for the employer and the employee.
The daylong conference would focus on the new employment practices and the issues from both business and people point of view.
The perspectives of the principal stakeholders would be examined and the best practices adopted by select companies shared.
