Our Bureau

New Delhi , Dec. 7

VERITAS Software has said that it would add 50 people per month to its India operations, while its proposed expenditure for next year would be pegged at over $50 million.

``In 2004, we announced an investment of $51-52 million in the country. Next year also I expect our expenditure in India to be pegged at the same level," Mr Steven Leonard, Senior Vice-President and General Manager (Asia-Pacific/Japan), Veritas, said.

The company currently has 1,000 professionals in India, and bulk of the employees are involved in research and development work at its Pune centre.

``We are hiring 50 additional people per month. As our business in India grows we will continue with the rate,'' he said without elaborating for how long will Veritas continue to hire at this rate. The company has also customer care staff in Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore.

Mr Leonard was speaking on the sidelines of a session on `Offshoring: Moving up the value chain' at the India Economic Summit.
