Foods & Food Processing CII, Austrade agri-biz tie-up Our Bureau
CHENNAI: CII and Austrade, the export facilitation arm of the Australian Government, have joined hands to promote agri-business between Australia and India. According to Ms. Michelle Marginson, Charge de Affaires, Australian High Commission, the initiative should help strengthen trade ties between the two countries. North India could become a hub for Australian companies wishing to invest in India, a statement from the Australian embassy said. According to Mr Y.C. Deveshwar, Vice-President, CII, more mutual trade could be an instrument of development for both countries This wouldopen fresh lines of communication. As per Mr Mike Moignard, Senior Trade Commissioner, Austrade, India is the 7th largest market for exports from Australia. Businesses from Australia and India had each invested over A$1 billion in the other economy. There are already over 140 joint ventures successfully working between Indian and Australian companies.
