Awards & Honours NRCB Director gets `Pisang Rajah' award Our Bureau
Coimbatore , Dec. 8 FOR his outstanding contributions to banana research and development, the Director of the National Research Centre for Banana (NRCB), Dr S. Sathiamoorthy, has been conferred the `Pisang Rajah' (Banana King) award. The Banana Asia-Pacific Network (BAPNET), Philippines, the regional office for the International Network for the Improvement of Banana and Plantains (INIBAP), France, has conferred the international `Pisang Rajah' award on the NRCB Director. The award was given away at a function organised by the Guangdong Academy of Agricultural Sciences at Guangdong, China. This is not the first title bagged by the NRCB Director. His other awards include the `Kadali Purashkar', `AIPUB Fellow' and `Plaque of Honour (INIBAP)'. Dr Sathiamoorthy said the award was in recognition of his continuous commitment and co-operation in ensuring a sustainable banana research and development in the Asia-Pacific region.
