New Delhi , Dec. 8

THE Cabinet today gave its nod for the introduction of a Bill in Parliament to amend the Railways Act 1989 to include commercial utilisation of railway land and air space as a part of the work of the Railways.

Provisions will also be incorporated in the Act for setting up Rail Land Development Authority (RLDA) to take up commercial development of the land, air space and property wherever feasible.

It also gave its approval for signing an agreement between India and Korea for co-operation and mutual assistance in customs matters. This will help the Indian Customs Administration to get reliable, quick and cost-effective information for prevention and investigation of offences and apprehension of offenders.
