IBM's Pondicherry facility to come under new entity

IBM is selling its PC business to China's Lenovo Group for $1.25 billion.

As part of the deal with Lenova, IBM's manufacturing facility in Pondicherry will become a unit of the new entity.

According to an IBM spokesperson, the marketing team of IBM India will also be moved over to Lenova.

IBM has nearly 200 people as part of its PC division, including the personnel at its manufacturing facility and the marketing team, sources said. According to IDC estimates, IBM has close to 6.5 per cent share in the Indian PC market.
