Roads improvement project at Palayam city centre

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The City Roads Improvement Project covering 42 km here will take off next week with work on construction of an underpass at the Palayam city centre.

Announcing this, the Public Works Minister, Dr M.K. Muneer, said here on Wednesday that the project spanning 13 major road corridors would be completed by November next year. The toll-free project will be executed under a Build, Operate, Maintain and Transfer system. The construction of the underpass was scheduled to be completed in five months.

Project officials who accompanied the Minister to the site of construction said the underpass would have a width of 12.7 m, with a median separating the 5.5 m carriageways on either side.
