People Top-level appointments in PSU insurance cos Our Bureau
New Delhi , Dec. 9 THE Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has appointed Mr R. N. Bhardwaj as the new Chairman of the Life Insurance Corporation and Mr R.K. Joshi as the Chairman and Managing Director of General Insurance Corporation (GIC). While Mr Bhardwaj, who was earlier Managing Director, LIC, has already taken over his new assignment, Mr Joshi would be taking over on January 31, 2005, on the superannuation of current CMD, Mr P.C. Ghosh. Mr Joshi was earlier General Manager, GIC. The ACC has also appointment new CMDs for three general insurance companies - Oriental Insurance, National Insurance and United Insurance. Mr M. Ramadoss, General Manager, New India Assurance Company Ltd, has been appointed as Chairman-cum-Managing Director, Oriental Insurance Company. He would take over when the current CMD Mr S.L. Mohan vacates office on February 28, 2005. Mr B. Chakraborti, General Manager, United India Insurance Company Ltd would take over as Chairman-cum-Managing Director, National Insurance Company, from Mr H.S. Wadhwa on December 31, 2004. Mr M.K. Garg, General Manager, New India Assurance Company, would take over as CMD, United India Insurance Company. The post fell vacant on the superannuation of Mr V. Jagannathan on October 31. The ACC has also appointed Mr A.K. Shukla and Mr K. Sridhar as the new Managing Directors of LIC. Both Mr Shukla and Mr Sridhar were earlier Executive Directors in the company.
