MR P.T. Vanan assumed charge as Chairman of the New Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT) here on Friday.

A press release by the Deputy Chairman of NMPT, Mr G.J. Rao, said that Mr Vanan has immense experience in port sector, and served in major ports such as Chennai, Kochi, Tuticorin and Visakhapatnam.

Prior to his present appointment, he was the Deputy Chairman of Visakhapatnam Port Trust, the release added.
