Mumbai , Dec. 11 Mr C.R.L. Narasimhan, Business Editor of The Hindu, has been awarded the `Excellence in Business Journalism Award for the year 2003-04' by the Association of Business Communicators of India (ABCI) here. The ABCI is a 49-year-old apolitical organisation, formerly known as the `Association of Industrial Editors of India.' Mr Narasimhan is the first recipient of this award. The citation said: "Among Mr Narasimhan's many articles which have been appreciated by the industry and financial markets is a recent one devoted to inflation and interest rates, written after his meeting with the Reserve Bank of India Governor, Dr Y. V. Reddy. This article can fairly be said to have had a dramatic effect on India's financial scene... '' ``Leaders in financial markets and industry have always sought Mr Narasimhan's help in understanding the nitty-gritty of the financial world. In this context, we must make special mention of the fact that he was one of the few top financial journalists who were invited for a hearing by the Joint Parliamentary Committee constituted to inquire into the stock market scam involving Ketan Parekh in the early 2000s," it said. A post-graduate in economics from Madras University, Mr Narasimhan worked with State Bank of India, in India and abroad for over two decades before he joined The Hindu as a Deputy Editor in December 1993. Financial Communications Award for Canco MD CHENNAI: The Canco Advertising Managing Director, Mr Ramesh Narayan, has been presented the `Excellence in Financial Communications Award for 2003-04' by ABCI. The Prasar Bharati Chairman, Mr M.V. Kamath, presented the award to Mr Narayan. "Financial services are growing at a fantastic pace in India. It is important to ensure that communications are meaningfully creative yet completely honest," said Mr Narayan. Mr Narayan has been President, Advertising Agencies Association of India, Advertising Club Bombay, and Chairman, Planning Committee of the AdAsia event held in India last year. He is a council member of the Audit Bureau of Circulation and the National Readership Survey Council.
