Alliances & Joint Ventures Tensilica in pact with Indian co Our Bureau
AHMEDABAD: Tensilica Inc, a US-based supplier of microprocessors has tied up with eInfochips, an Ahmedabad-based chip designing company, to set up a software development centre in Pune. The new centre will focus on extending the IP solutions around Xtensa, the configurable and extensible microprocessor core developed by Tensilica. The company claims to have patented an automated process of generating a customised microprocessor core along with software. It also said that it can produce a new configuration in a matter of hours. "We want to leverage the software development and testing talent available in India. The country has a vast pool of engineers who understand embedded tools and system-on-chip design. We see big opportunity in this growing market for our processors," said Tensilica's President and CEO, Mr Chris Rowen.
